SSSART call out to an injured walker in the Rhinog Mountains

Call Out 21st August 2014

A mid afternoon call out to assist a walker with an ankle injury in Cwm Bychan. The casualty, a German lady on holiday with her family, had twisted and broken her ankle. Her injuries were assessed at the scene, and her ankle was splinted before she was evacuated by stretcher to the road head. An RAF helicopter from RAF Valley airlifted her to hospital.

The teams recently aquired “Traverse Rescue Mule” stretcher trolley was put to good use, greatly easing what would have been an awkward carry.
